About the Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced and strategic Associate Director of Tax Accounting to lead Deel’s tax accounting and reporting function during an exciting period of rapid growth and IPO preparation.

This is a critical leadership role that connects global tax strategy with executional excellence. You will play a central role in ensuring accurate tax reporting, strong SOX-aligned controls, and best-in-class financial statement disclosures, including support for the company’s future IPO S-1 filing.

You will also serve as a key partner to senior leadership, auditors, and external advisors while helping build scalable processes, systems, and governance for the public company journey.


What You’ll Be Responsible For

IPO Readiness & Financial Reporting

  • Lead the preparation and accuracy of all tax-related disclosures in financial reporting, including the company’s S-1 filing

  • Convert high-level tax strategies into clear, compliant, and accurate financial reporting outcomes

  • Oversee timely and precise tax provisions, effective tax rate (ETR) calculations, and disclosures under ASC 740 / IAS 12

Tax Accounting & Global Compliance

  • Manage the preparation and review of global income tax returns and associated filings across multiple jurisdictions

  • Ensure the integrity of indirect tax reporting, including:

  • VAT

  • GST

  • Withholding Tax

  • Other applicable levies

  • Maintain reconciliations for tax accounts, deferred tax balances, and supporting documentation

Controls, Governance & SOX

  • Design and implement SOX-compliant processes and internal controls across tax accounting and reporting

  • Partner with Finance, Legal, and Internal Audit to ensure tax control frameworks are:

  • Properly documented

  • Thoroughly tested

  • Operating effectively

Strategic Advisory & Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Act as a key strategic partner to senior tax leadership in executing global tax strategies

  • Serve as the primary contact for:

  • External auditors

  • Tax advisors

  • Regulatory bodies

  • Proactively monitor tax law developments and assess their impact on IPO reporting and long-term tax positions

Systems & Technology Implementation

  • Lead the end-to-end implementation of OneSource Tax Provision (Thomson Reuters)

  • Act as the internal owner for governance, rollout success, and project coordination

  • Design scalable system configurations and data architecture to support global tax provisions under ASC 740

  • Collaborate with IT, Finance, and external consultants to:

  • Manage timelines

  • Resolve integrations

  • Drive internal adoption

  • Build strong workflows and controls within the platform to support audit readiness and long-term efficiency through the public listing phase


What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking a tax leader who combines technical excellence with sound judgment, strong communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a high-growth, global environment.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Taxation, Accounting, Finance, or a related field

  • 10+ years of progressive corporate tax experience in multinational organizations and/or Big 4

  • Proven experience in tax accounting for public companies or businesses preparing for an IPO

  • Deep expertise in:

  • ASC 740

  • IAS 12

  • Tax provisions

  • Financial reporting

  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP or IFRS and relevant international tax regulations

  • Demonstrated success in creating and managing SOX-aligned controls and processes

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and ERP/tax software platforms

Preferred qualifications

  • CPA strongly preferred

  • Equivalent certifications such as ACA, ACCA, or CIMA are also highly valued

  • MBA or JD is a plus

  • Experience with tools such as:

  • OneSource

  • GoSystem

  • SAP

  • Similar tax and ERP platforms
