About the Opportunity

Our national **Tax Accounting Group** brings together specialists in tax accounting and tax audit, creating a focused and highly regarded team led by an equity partner. We are looking for an experienced **Audit of Tax Director** to play a key role in delivering specialist support across major client engagements.

In this position, you will provide tax audit expertise on some of our largest and most high-profile audits, while also supporting non-audit clients with sophisticated tax accounting matters. This is a varied and senior role that offers exposure to complex technical work, strategic client interaction, and leadership responsibilities.

What You’ll Be Doing

As an **Audit of Tax Director**, you will take ownership of a diverse portfolio of tax audit and tax accounting work, collaborating closely with audit teams, tax specialists, partners, and clients.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading tax audit activity across large and complex audit engagements

• Acting as the main point of contact between the tax team and the core audit team

• Supporting high-profile clients across a broad range of sectors and business structures

• Providing specialist tax accounting advice to non-audit clients

• Contributing to complex engagements, including:

• tax provisioning projects

• GAAP conversion work

• carve-out accounting

• acquisition accounting

• Managing multiple ad hoc and project-based assignments

• Working collaboratively with other BDO teams to deliver joined-up client solutions

• Responding to tax accounting queries from the wider tax and audit practice

• Coaching, mentoring, and developing junior team members

• Ensuring high-quality delivery, including compliance with audit methodology and documentation standards

You will work with a prestigious and varied client base, including:

• FTSE-listed businesses

• AIM-listed companies

• Large inbound groups

• Private equity-backed organisations

This is an opportunity to advise senior stakeholders within complex and fast-moving businesses, helping them navigate technical challenges with confidence.

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking a confident and commercially aware tax professional who combines strong technical knowledge with excellent leadership and relationship-building skills.

You’ll ideally bring:

• CTA and/or ACA qualification (or equivalent)

• Demonstrable post-qualified experience

• Significant experience in audit of tax

• Proven ability to deliver complex tax audits and prepare or review robust audit documentation

• Strong expertise in tax accounting and the ability to advise on technical matters with clarity

• Good working knowledge of:

• FRS 102

• IFRS

• US GAAP experience is beneficial, though not essential

• Strong project management capability, including:

• balancing multiple assignments

• meeting deadlines

• taking ownership of delivery

• leading teams effectively

• Experience in coaching and developing junior colleagues

• Confidence working with senior client stakeholders

• A track record of leading large-scale or complex specialist projects
