KPMG’s Financial Services Corporate Tax team is looking for an Assistant Manager to join a high-performing practice supporting some of the most prominent UK and global banks and insurers.

The Opportunity

As a Tax Assistant Manager within KPMG’s FS Corporate Tax team, you will contribute to a broad portfolio of engagements and play a key role in delivering high-quality solutions to complex tax challenges.

You will work across a wide range of assignments, gaining exposure to both advisory and compliance-related matters within a dynamic and evolving banking environment.

Key areas of work include:

  • Corporate tax advisory

  • M&A tax support

  • Tax advice, including Pillar 2

  • Tax audit assistance

  • Tax compliance engagements


What You’ll Be Doing

In this role, you will support the delivery of varied and often complex tax engagements for major financial services clients.

Your responsibilities are likely to include:

  • Delivering work across tax advisory, audit support, and compliance

  • Supporting clients on M&A-related tax matters

  • Providing input into Pillar 2 and wider corporate tax advisory projects

  • Assisting with tax audit activity and related analysis

  • Managing multiple priorities while ensuring quality and timely delivery

  • Identifying potential risks, technical issues, and opportunities

  • Building strong working relationships with both clients and internal teams

  • Contributing to the development of junior colleagues through coaching and support

  • Helping identify and progress business development opportunities


What We’re Looking For

KPMG is seeking a candidate with strong corporate tax fundamentals, sound judgement, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced client environment.

Essential experience and capabilities:

  • A corporate tax background

  • Ideally, some experience in tax audit

  • Currently operating at Assistant Manager level

  • A strong willingness to learn and develop quickly

  • The ability to exercise sound judgement, including recognising risks and escalating when appropriate

  • A proactive mindset, with the confidence to identify opportunities that benefit the wider business

  • Experience helping to lead, or leading, large and complex projects

  • A focus on accountability, quality, and timely execution

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

  • The ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels, internally and externally

  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative team approach

  • High-level analytical capability and a commercial mindset when solving problems

  • The ability to apply core tax principles to identify technical issues and opportunities

  • Adaptability, energy, and a dynamic approach

  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to multi-task effectively

  • A genuine interest in coaching and developing junior team members


Desirable Experience

While not essential, the following experience would be highly valued:

  • Banking sector experience

  • Exposure to or knowledge of Pillar 2.0
