About the Team

Our Private Capital Corporate Tax team works with some of the most exciting businesses in the market — from entrepreneurial owner-managed companies to private equity-backed organisations. These businesses are fast-moving, ambitious, and often navigating increasingly complex tax matters as they expand, restructure, and plan for the future.

We build long-term trusted adviser relationships by taking the time to understand what matters most to our clients, both commercially and personally. From tax compliance to strategic advisory work, we help them achieve their goals in the most effective and efficient way possible.

You will also be part of a wider national tax practice, with access to specialists across:

• Corporate and multinational tax

• Innovation tax

• Employment taxes

• VAT

• Real estate tax

This breadth of expertise allows us to deliver joined-up, high-quality solutions as our clients evolve.

The Opportunity

As an Associate Director in our Private Capital Corporate Tax team, you will play a key role in delivering exceptional service to a diverse portfolio of clients while also contributing to the continued growth of the practice.

What You’ll Be Doing

In this role, you will:

• Advise a broad portfolio of clients on a wide range of corporate tax matters, spanning both compliance and advisory work

• Lead client engagements and confidently manage client meetings, responding clearly and effectively to queries

• Deliver high-quality tax advice that is accurate, practical, and aligned with client expectations and deadlines

• Drive delivery across projects, working with colleagues across wider tax teams to bring the right expertise to each engagement

• Support and develop junior team members, helping them grow professionally and understand their career pathways

• Provide innovative and commercially focused solutions to client tax challenges, both proactively and reactively

• Identify opportunities to introduce wider firm services, adding value to clients and strengthening cross-team collaboration

• Lead pitches and proposals, helping to win new work and build the profile of the team in the market

• Contribute to business development activity, representing Grant Thornton’s capabilities to existing and prospective clients

What We’re Looking For

To succeed in this role, you will bring strong technical capability, commercial awareness, and the confidence to manage relationships with entrepreneurial businesses.

Essential Criteria

• A professional qualification such as CTA, ACA, ACCA, or equivalent

• Post-qualification experience in corporate tax

• Confidence in managing a portfolio of entrepreneurial business clients

It Would Be Great If You Also Have

• Strong knowledge of UK corporate tax legislation

• A working understanding of international tax concepts

• Experience reviewing work and supervising others in a tax environment

• A background in professional services

• Experience managing a substantial client portfolio

• Proven business development capability

• A genuine interest in deepening your understanding of the firm’s wider services and capabilities
