Our clients are some of the UK’s most ambitious and fast-growing businesses — entrepreneurial organisations, private companies, and listed multinationals that drive economic growth. Their success depends on trusted advisers who understand both the technical detail and the wider commercial picture.

Why Join BDO?

At BDO, you’ll be part of a Tax team that is collaborative, forward-thinking, and constantly evolving. Tax is a fast-moving discipline, shaped by changing legislation, new technologies, and increasingly complex business needs. That means every day brings fresh challenges and opportunities to grow.

Whether you’re advising on complex employment tax matters, managing strategic client relationships, or contributing to broader business solutions across the firm, you’ll be given the support, autonomy, and scope to build a rewarding career.

The Opportunity

This role offers the chance to work closely with a diverse portfolio of clients across sectors, providing high-quality Employment Tax advisory services and acting as a trusted point of contact on complex matters.

You’ll work with a range of businesses, including:

  • Start-ups and scale-ups

  • Privately owned businesses

  • Large UK and international groups

  • FTSE-listed multinationals

The variety of clients and challenges means you’ll continue developing your expertise while gaining valuable commercial exposure in different business environments.

What You’ll Be Doing

In this role, you will take ownership of client relationships, deliver technically strong advice, and support the wider growth and quality of the team’s service offering.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing a portfolio of clients and overseeing all related matters effectively

  • Building, developing, and maintaining strong client relationships

  • Taking responsibility for billings and cash collection in line with firm requirements

  • Acting as the main Employment Tax contact for your clients

  • Delivering high-quality advisory services while ensuring compliance with risk and quality standards

  • Responding promptly to client needs and anticipating future requirements

  • Keeping clients informed on progress and key developments across all aspects of service delivery

  • Managing complex tax projects from planning through to execution

  • Identifying opportunities to improve service delivery and introduce additional value-added solutions

  • Collaborating with senior managers, directors, and partners to ensure excellent outcomes for clients

  • Supporting the firm’s quality control procedures and recognising potential risks where relevant

What We’re Looking For

We are seeking a tax professional with strong technical expertise, commercial awareness, and the confidence to manage both client relationships and complex assignments.

You’ll bring:

  • In-depth and up-to-date knowledge of taxation

  • Specialist expertise in Employment Tax and the ability to handle complex technical issues

  • Proven experience managing a portfolio of clients

  • Strong project management capability, including experience with complex assignments

  • A solid understanding of risk management and quality control in a professional services environment

  • The ability to work proactively and independently while also collaborating effectively with others

  • Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to engage at senior stakeholder level

Qualifications:

  • Degree educated, and/or

  • CTA qualified, and/or

  • ACA qualified, or equivalent

How You’ll Work
