About the Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of BDO’s dynamic Tax team, supporting clients with international operations through specialist expatriate tax compliance and advisory services. You will play a central role in managing a portfolio of clients, delivering high-quality expatriate tax support, and contributing to the continued growth of the business. Experience or knowledge of UK employment tax would be advantageous, although it is not essential.


What You’ll Be Doing

In this role, you will take ownership of a varied and engaging workload, working closely with clients, senior stakeholders, and colleagues across the business.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing a portfolio of expatriate tax clients, ensuring high standards of compliance and advisory support

  • Overseeing annual tax return processes for both smaller client groups and larger, more complex international assignee populations

  • Providing expatriate tax advisory services across a broad range of issues and client scenarios

  • Supporting senior team members with client delivery and wider team management responsibilities

  • Building strong client relationships, including interaction with senior management and key stakeholders

  • Identifying opportunities to expand services and contribute to business development initiatives

  • Managing your own workload proactively, with regular communication and collaboration with directors and partners

  • Contributing to team success through staff management, coaching, and development where appropriate


What We’re Looking For

We are seeking a confident, commercially aware tax professional with strong technical knowledge and a proactive approach to client service.

You will ideally bring:

  • Significant experience in expatriate tax compliance

  • A strong understanding of:

  • annual tax return processes

  • tax reimbursement methodologies

  • international payroll operations

  • international social security matters

  • Up-to-date knowledge of key expatriate tax developments, including areas such as:

  • Statutory Residence Test

  • Short Term Business Visitors

  • Non-Resident Directors

  • Expatriate tax advisory experience

  • The ability to manage a large and varied client portfolio

  • Proven staff management experience

  • A track record of identifying and developing opportunities to provide additional services to clients

  • Experience dealing directly with senior client stakeholders and decision-makers

  • Degree-level education, and/or CTA / ACA qualification, or equivalent experience
