About the Team
Global Tax is a specialist function that supports the firm’s business lines by providing strategic tax insight across operations, transactions, and reporting requirements. The team helps ensure that tax implications are understood and managed effectively, while also safeguarding the firm’s reputation.
The work is both commercially important and intellectually challenging, making it well suited to professionals who combine technical expertise with sound judgement, integrity, and strong attention to detail.
The Opportunity
Within this role, you will advise on tax matters relating primarily to Goldman Sachs Asset Management’s alternative investments business. Goldman Sachs is a leading global investor across the alternatives landscape, with investments spanning:
Private equity
Growth equity
Private credit
Real estate
Infrastructure
Hedge funds
Sustainability-focused investments
You will work on matters connected to both funds and transactions, collaborating extensively with internal stakeholders and external advisers. The position requires strong transaction management capability, commercial awareness, and the ability to operate confidently in a fast-paced setting.
Key Responsibilities
As part of the Global Tax team, your responsibilities will include:
Providing tax advice to Goldman Sachs Asset Management businesses on the implications of alternative investment funds and related deals
Supporting transaction activity by assessing tax consequences and helping structure matters appropriately
Reviewing and challenging external adviser input to ensure high-quality, commercially effective outcomes
Collaborating with internal tax colleagues, especially teams based in the United States
Building strong relationships with business stakeholders and contributing clear, practical tax guidance
Managing multiple workstreams effectively within a dynamic and deadline-driven environment
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking an accomplished and motivated tax professional who can combine strong technical capability with excellent interpersonal skills.
Required Qualifications, Experience & Skills
Professionally qualified as a Lawyer or ACA/CTA
At least 2 years’ post-qualification tax experience gained at a leading firm
Strong technical knowledge of UK tax
Experience with cross-border transactions and structuring
Familiarity with tax regimes across Europe and the USA
US tax experience is preferred, though not essential
Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage senior stakeholders
Sound judgement and confidence in decision-making
A flexible mindset and the ability to learn quickly
A highly motivated, team-oriented approach
Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-performing environment
