Managing Director, Corporate Tax
FTI Consulting | Corporate Finance – Tax
Location: London
Job Type: Permanent
Reporting to: Senior Managing Director, Corporate Tax
FTI Consulting is seeking an accomplished and commercially minded Managing Director, Corporate Tax to join its London-based Tax Advisory team. This is a senior leadership opportunity for an experienced tax professional who thrives in a market-facing role, enjoys building high-value client relationships, and can lead complex corporate tax advisory, compliance, and reporting engagements with confidence.
About the Tax Advisory Practice
FTI Consulting’s Tax Advisory team is an independent, expert-led practice within the firm’s Corporate Finance division. The team advises a prestigious client base that includes private equity and infrastructure funds, FTSE 100 and listed groups, multinational investors, and major domestic and international businesses.
The practice is known for combining deep technical tax expertise with a pragmatic, commercially grounded approach. Clients benefit from access to a highly accomplished senior leadership team that includes specialists across tax, accounting, legal, valuations, technology, and economics.
The Opportunity
This role is designed for a senior tax leader who can help shape and expand the Corporate Tax offering in London. The successful candidate will play a central role in leading the team, overseeing a portfolio of large and complex clients, and collaborating across specialist tax disciplines to deliver integrated, strategic advice.
The client portfolio is diverse, spanning both UK and international organisations with significant or complex UK operations. Many clients have limited in-house UK tax capability, meaning the FTI team often acts as a trusted extension of their finance function, providing broad and ongoing tax support.
What You’ll Be Doing
As Managing Director, you will lead from the front—driving client delivery, strengthening internal capability, and contributing to the strategic growth of the wider Tax Advisory practice.
Core responsibilities include:
Leading and developing the Corporate Tax team as part of the wider Tax Senior Leadership group
Managing a portfolio of large, complex corporate clients and acting as a trusted senior adviser
Overseeing delivery of corporate tax engagements across advisory, compliance, and reporting work
Coordinating multi-specialist support from teams including:
Transfer Pricing

Share Schemes
Supporting clients on a wide range of tax matters, including:
Corporate tax compliance and reporting
Group tax planning and reorganisations
Financing-related tax advice
M&A and transaction support
Cross-border tax issues
Tax risk management, including SAO matters
HMRC interactions
Driving business development by identifying and pursuing new client opportunities through existing and new networks
Maintaining technical excellence by staying current on specialist tax developments and contributing to thought leadership where relevant
Managing risk and financial performance across your client portfolio
Mentoring and developing junior team members through coaching, leadership, and training
Client Exposure
This role offers exposure to a broad and high-profile client base across multiple industries and sectors. A significant proportion of the current portfolio includes Real Estate clients, and the position may also involve close collaboration with FTI’s Real Estate Transactions team to provide ongoing post-transaction tax advisory and compliance support.
What We’re Looking For
FTI Consulting is looking for a senior tax professional with strong technical credentials, leadership experience, and the commercial acumen to build trusted client partnerships.
Qualifications
Degree qualified (2:1 or equivalent), ideally in a finance, accounting, or numerically focused discipline
ACA, CTA, or equivalent professional qualification
At least 10 years’ post-qualified experience (PQE)
Experience, skills and attributes
Proven experience helping lead and grow a team within a large accounting, tax, or advisory firm
Strong track record of managing and expanding relationships across a portfolio of large and complex clients
Demonstrated ability to build credibility with senior internal and external stakeholders
Client-focused and commercially aware, with a strong understanding of practical business needs
Skilled at problem solving with creativity and pragmatism
