The Opportunity

As the main Private Client Tax contact in the Glasgow office, you will take ownership of an established portfolio while also identifying and developing new opportunities. The role offers a strong blend of client advisory work, relationship management, business development, and team leadership.

You will work closely with colleagues across the tax, private client, and privately owned business teams, ensuring clients receive a seamless and exceptional service tailored to their needs.

Key Responsibilities

As Private Client Tax Advisory Associate Director, your responsibilities will include:

• Leading client relationships as the primary point of contact for Private Client Tax in the Glasgow office

• Managing and growing a portfolio of profitable client work through excellent service and strategic development

• Identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, building relationships that generate work for both the Private Client Tax team and wider service lines

• Providing tailored tax advice across a broad range of matters, including:

• Inheritance tax planning

• Succession planning

• Trusts

• Tax structuring

• Handling complex tax matters with confidence, applying strong technical expertise and sound judgement

• Building and maintaining networks internally and externally to support team growth and enhance client outcomes

• Developing long-term client relationships, proactively supporting existing clients while expanding the client base

• Coaching and supporting junior team members, helping them grow both technically and commercially through mentoring and effective delegation

• Maintaining high professional standards by ensuring adherence to the firm’s quality assurance and risk management procedures

About You

We are looking for a professional who can demonstrate:

• CTA and/or ACA qualification, or an equivalent professional qualification

• Current experience in Private Client Tax

• A strong background in tax advisory work and portfolio management

• Excellent technical knowledge in:

• Personal tax

• Trusts

• Inheritance tax

• Proven experience in business development and a track record of winning new work

• The ability to build strong, trusted client relationships and consistently deliver a high standard of service

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Experience in coaching, mentoring, and developing junior team members
