The Opportunity
Our Tax Consultancy Service Line is expanding rapidly, and we are seeking a Private Client Tax Director / Partner to join our Glasgow team.
This is a senior leadership opportunity for an experienced tax professional who is passionate about delivering high-quality client service, developing strong relationships, and contributing to the continued success of a growing team.
You will work closely with existing colleagues on a wide range of projects, helping to ensure clients receive the highest standards of advice and support.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will take ownership of client relationships, team workflow, and commercial delivery, while supporting wider business development objectives.
Your responsibilities will include:
Acting as Tax Relationship Partner for a portfolio of existing clients
Leading the delivery and prioritisation of client work, ensuring effective workflow management across your team
Establishing and overseeing scope and budgets for each assignment
Agreeing client work and fees in advance, ensuring clarity of engagement and maximising fee recovery
Monitoring progress across all engagements, maintaining strong communication with clients and internal stakeholders throughout
Conducting closure discussions with clients, identifying opportunities for further work and referrals
Ensuring all work is delivered in line with agreed budgets and Armstrong Watson procedures
Maintaining compliance with Tax Consultancy Service Line Standards and Risk Procedures at all times
Undertaking business development activity to support both individual and team fee targets
About You
To succeed in this position, you will be a highly credible tax professional with strong technical expertise, commercial awareness, and a reputation for excellence in your field.
We are looking for candidates who have:
CTA qualification, or an equivalent professional qualification
Recognition as a thought leader within their area of expertise in the external market
A full UK driving licence
You will also bring the confidence to lead client relationships, the professionalism to maintain high technical standards, and the ambition to help shape the future of a growing service line.
