The Opportunity

Turing is seeking experienced Tax Law Experts to contribute to projects that improve and fine-tune AI models such as ChatGPT.

In this role, you will use your knowledge of U.S. federal income tax, corporate tax strategy, partnership taxation, and tax controversy to assess how AI responds to sophisticated legal and tax-related scenarios.

If you are energized by analyzing Internal Revenue Code sections, interpreting IRS guidance, and evaluating tax-efficient structures, this role offers a unique opportunity to apply your expertise in an emerging space.

No prior AI experience is required. Your legal and tax background is the core qualification we are looking for.


What You’ll Be Doing

As a Tax Law Expert on these projects, your day-to-day work may include:

  • Reviewing and evaluating AI-generated responses to U.S. tax law hypotheticals, including:

  • Individual and corporate income taxation

  • Pass-through entity taxation

  • International tax rules such as GILTI, BEAT, and Subpart F

  • Tax controversy and procedural matters

  • Applying a structured legal evaluation framework to assess:

  • Issue spotting

  • Accuracy of cited Internal Revenue Code provisions

  • Proper application of Treasury Regulations

  • Consistency with IRS guidance

  • Identifying weaknesses or omissions in AI reasoning across topics such as:

  • Basis calculations

  • Gain recognition

  • Tax credits

  • Transfer pricing

  • Tax-exempt organization rules

  • Providing clear, high-quality annotations and written feedback to help improve model performance

  • Working closely with researchers and project managers to ensure alignment on quality standards, evaluation criteria, and project objectives


What We’re Looking For

To be successful in this role, you should bring the following:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school

  • Bar admission in active or inactive status

  • LL.M. in Taxation is a plus

  • 3+ years of experience in U.S. tax law practice, tax planning, or tax controversy

  • Strong analytical and legal reasoning skills across:

  • The Internal Revenue Code

  • Treasury Regulations

  • Relevant state and local tax frameworks

  • Excellent written communication skills

  • Exceptional attention to detail

  • High ethical standards and professional judgment

  • Interest in AI or emerging technology is welcome, though not required
