About the Role

ASOS is seeking a Senior Indirect Tax Manager to act as the key deputy to the Head of Indirect Tax & Customs, combining strategic advisory work with hands-on leadership of VAT compliance across multiple jurisdictions. The role is central to ensuring the business meets its indirect tax obligations while supporting the wider direction of the tax function. It also involves mentoring junior managers and maintaining high standards of delivery across the team.

A major part of the position is leading complex cross-functional projects, including regulatory change, tax transformation, process improvements, and systems or automation initiatives. The successful candidate will be expected to identify tax risks, see solutions through to execution, and embed sustainable process improvements. Regular engagement with senior stakeholders, including financial controllers and the Head of Indirect Tax & Customs, is an important part of the role.

Day to day, the Senior Indirect Tax Manager will oversee end-to-end VAT compliance, ensure timely and accurate filings and payments, manage relationships with outsourced compliance providers, and act as the main point of contact for HMRC and other tax authorities during audits, enquiries, and disputes. The role also includes maintaining strong governance through reconciliations, controls, and audit readiness, while using technology and automation to improve efficiency and reduce risk.

ASOS is looking for a professionally qualified tax specialist, preferably ATT, CTA, ACCA, or ACA, with significant indirect tax advisory and compliance experience, ideally in retail or e-commerce. Candidates should bring strong leadership, commercial awareness, communication skills, and a proactive problem-solving approach. The company offers benefits including employee discount, sample sales, 25 days' holiday plus an extra celebration day, performance bonus, private medical care, and personalised learning opportunities.
