Senior Tax Manager / Group Tax Specialist

YouGov

Join YouGov in a pivotal tax role where you will help strengthen and shape a growing in-house global tax function. Reporting to the Group Tax Manager / Group Tax Director, this position offers the opportunity to take ownership across tax accounting, compliance, and international tax matters while supporting the evolution toward a more centralised and internally managed tax model.

About the Opportunity

As part of YouGov’s Group Tax team, you will play an important role in enhancing global tax operations and reducing reliance on external advisers. You will contribute to building a more consistent, controlled, and efficient tax framework across the Group, while supporting complex international tax matters and key reporting cycles.

The role is ideal for someone who thrives in a lean, evolving environment and is confident managing both day-to-day tax responsibilities and wider transformation initiatives.


What You’ll Be Responsible For

Tax Accounting & Reporting

You will take ownership of core tax accounting activities and help ensure tax balances and reporting remain accurate, compliant, and aligned with financial reporting requirements.

  • Review and reconcile current and deferred tax balances on a monthly basis

  • Investigate and resolve tax variances and reconciliation issues

  • Prepare and post monthly tax journals for both current and deferred tax

  • Oversee tax reporting processes, ensuring alignment with IFRS / IAS 12

  • Calculate deferred tax adjustments, including:

  • Intangibles

  • Tax losses

  • Temporary differences

  • Support return-to-provision processes and maintain consistency between tax and financial reporting

  • Partner with finance teams globally to ensure correct tax accounting treatment across legal entities

Tax Compliance & Regulatory Management

You will help drive robust and timely tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring obligations are met and standards remain high across the Group.

  • Manage corporate tax compliance across a range of territories

  • Maintain and monitor the tax compliance calendar and tracking processes

  • Review filings and outputs prepared by external advisers for accuracy and completeness

  • Ensure tax payments are made in line with relevant deadlines

  • Act as a key contact for tax authorities, including HMRC

International Tax & Technical Support

This role offers broad exposure to international tax matters, with responsibility for supporting cross-border activity and helping maintain alignment on global tax positions.

  • Support and manage matters relating to:

  • Transfer pricing compliance and documentation

  • Withholding tax applications, exemptions, and refund processes

  • Cross-border tax issues and structuring support

  • Contribute to work involving:

  • DAC6

  • CRS

  • Controlled Foreign Company (CFC) rules

  • BEPS / Pillar 2 developments

  • Collaborate with regional teams and external advisers to ensure consistency in tax positions globally

Half-Year and Year-End Reporting

You will be closely involved in key reporting cycles, supporting the preparation and validation of group tax reporting for statutory and internal purposes.

  • Support preparation and review of Group tax reporting and disclosures for statutory accounts

  • Review Group tax models

  • Validate year-end current and deferred tax positions

  • Provide tax journals and reporting packs to Group Accounting

  • Support internal and external audits, including responding to tax-related queries

Transfer Pricing

You will assist in maintaining and strengthening transfer pricing processes across the Group.

  • Support the quarterly update of transfer pricing models

  • Ensure intercompany invoicing is accurate and aligned with transfer pricing policies

  • Assist with improving transfer pricing frameworks and documentation

Process Improvement & Transformation

A key part of this role is helping YouGov build a more efficient and scalable in-house tax function.

  • Drive process improvements and standardisation across tax accounting and compliance

  • Support the automation and integration of tax and accounting processes

  • Contribute to the internalisation of tax knowledge, models, and processes

  • Help reduce reliance on external advisers by building stronger in-house capability

Additional Responsibilities

  • Document and maintain tax processes and controls

  • Support ad hoc tax projects, structuring initiatives, and wider business activities


What You’ll Bring

Qualifications & Background

We are looking for an experienced tax professional with a strong technical foundation and the confidence to operate in an international corporate environment.

  • ACA / ACCA or equivalent professional qualification

  • Background in a Top 20 or Big 4 firm preferred

  • 8–10 years’ progressive tax experience

  • Ideally a combination of practice and in-house experience

Technical Expertise

  • Strong experience in:

  • Corporate tax

  • Tax reporting

  • Deferred tax under IAS 12

  • Multi-jurisdiction tax compliance

  • Exposure to:

  • Transfer pricing

  • International tax

  • DAC6, CFC, CRS, and Pillar 2 frameworks

  • Experience within a multinational or global organisation

  • Prior exposure to fast-paced, high-growth environments is advantageous

Systems & Tools

  • Experience using tax and ERP systems, such as:

  • NetSuite

  • Oracle

  • OneStream

  • AlphaTax

  • Strong Excel skills, including:

  • VLOOKUP

  • Pivot Tables

  • SUMIF

  • And other advanced spreadsheet functionality

Core Strengths

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities and deadlines

  • Skilled in stakeholder management across international teams

  • Excellent written and verbal communication

  • Ability to work independently within a lean team structure
