Join Affinia as a Tax Advisory Manager within our Real Estate Tax Advisory team and play a central role in shaping and expanding our Property Tax offering. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced tax professional who is ready to combine high-level client advisory work with leadership, business development, and strategic contribution.
In this role, you will work closely with a diverse portfolio of clients, deliver specialist property tax advice, strengthen internal and external relationships, and help drive the future success of the practice. You will also support and mentor colleagues, contribute to service line initiatives, and work collaboratively with senior leadership to achieve wider firm objectives.

The Opportunity
As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for managing a complex and valuable client portfolio while contributing directly to the growth of Affinia’s Property Tax practice. You will advise clients on their tax affairs, identify planning opportunities, oversee the delivery of bespoke solutions, and help build strong referral networks with third-party professionals.
This role is ideally suited to someone already operating at Manager level who is looking to broaden their impact across technical advisory, client leadership, and business development.
Key Responsibilities
Client & Portfolio Leadership
You will act as a trusted advisor to clients, ensuring excellent service delivery across a portfolio of high-value and technically complex work.
Lead and support the delivery of tax advisory services for a varied portfolio of clients
Provide timely, high-quality, and compliant advice and outputs
Build strong relationships through regular communication and a detailed understanding of client needs
Deliver strategic and commercially sound advice that adds measurable value
Support clients including:
Ultra High Net Worth and High Net Worth individuals
Family-owned businesses
SMEs
Advise on and implement Property Tax planning strategies, including:
Restructuring
Acquisitions
Developments
Disposals
Apply strong practical knowledge of UK Land and Property Tax and VAT
Work collaboratively with external professional contacts such as:
Lawyers
Financial advisers
Trustees
Wealth managers
Commercial & Financial Management
You will play an important role in managing the commercial success of your portfolio and helping the wider team achieve its financial objectives.
Monitor portfolio financial performance and take action to improve profitability
Manage overruns and address scope creep proactively
Identify:
Tax risk areas
Cash-saving opportunities
Support initiatives to reduce risks and unlock value for clients
Deliver against targets for:
Fee revenue
Utilisation
Portfolio profitability
Ensure work is completed within agreed budgets and timescales
Contribute to:
Fee discussions
Service scoping
Pricing strategy
Strategic & Operational Contribution
This role offers the opportunity to influence both the direction and effectiveness of the service line.
Contribute ideas and market insight to the development of service line and group strategy

You will support the continued growth of the Property Tax offering both within the existing client base and through your external network.
Identify opportunities to expand services across your portfolio
Support Directors and Service Line Leaders with:

Client onboarding
Drive cross-selling and upselling opportunities
Represent Affinia at:
Industry events
Networking opportunities
Speaking engagements
Build and maintain strong external relationships that support business growth
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking a confident and commercially aware tax professional with strong advisory experience and the ability to lead both clients and colleagues effectively.
Essential Skills & Experience
Proven experience in a Manager-level tax role
Strong tax technical knowledge and advisory capability
Demonstrable experience managing a varied tax portfolio
Ability to identify tax planning opportunities and progress them independently
Strong understanding of property tax matters, including practical advisory application
Experience working with private clients and professional intermediaries
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
Confidence to work autonomously while also leading and developing others
Ability to review work thoroughly and coach junior staff effectively
Preferred Qualification
