Tax Manager

Boots UK is hiring a permanent Tax Manager based at its Nottingham headquarters. Reporting to the Senior Tax Manager, the role focuses on ensuring the group’s UK entities meet all tax compliance obligations on time, while also supporting project work, particularly on UK transactions. The position includes oversight of compliance processes, preparation and review of returns, resolving stakeholder queries, obtaining approvals and submitting filings to HMRC. The role also covers improving and documenting tax processes, making effective use of technology, and supporting Senior Accounting Officer requirements. In addition to UK compliance, the Tax Manager will help ensure local compliance for non-UK branches of UK trading entities such as Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man, and assist with other UK tax processes including CIR returns, uncertain tax treatment notifications, group relief, GPA and Pillar Two matters. Boots is looking for a qualified accountant or tax adviser with experience either in a multinational in-house tax team or within an accountancy firm. Candidates should have solid knowledge of UK tax matters and tax accounting under UK GAAP or IFRS, with US GAAP considered helpful but not essential. Strong organisational skills, the ability to manage multiple deadlines, build relationships across seniority levels and directly manage and develop team members are all important for success in the role. Additional desirable experience includes contributing to cross-functional projects, tax reporting under IFRS and/or US GAAP, managing external adviser relationships and budget awareness, plus familiarity with Onesource software.
