About the Opportunity

Moore Kingston Smith is seeking an experienced Tax Manager with a strong background in trusts and estates to join its expanding Private Client Tax team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a tax professional looking to take on a visible and influential role within a growing team. You will manage a diverse portfolio of trusts, estates, and high-net-worth individuals, while also providing leadership, guidance, and development support to junior colleagues.

As a key member of the team, you will be instrumental in delivering high-quality trust and estate tax advice, strengthening client relationships, supporting senior leadership on complex matters, and contributing to the continued development of the firm’s trusts and estates offering.


What You’ll Be Doing

In this role, you will take ownership of a broad and rewarding range of responsibilities across client service, advisory work, and team leadership.

Core Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio focused on trusts and estates

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for trustees, executors, beneficiaries, and professional advisers

  • Lead advisory assignments relating to trusts and estates, including the preparation of clear and well-structured written reports

  • Provide guidance on Capital Gains Tax (CGT) and Inheritance Tax (IHT) planning, including trusts and lifetime transfers

  • Oversee the preparation and review of trust accounts, as well as trust and estate tax returns

  • Monitor work in progress, billing, and timely delivery of client work

  • Support Partners and Directors on complex advisory matters and business development initiatives

  • Review the work of junior team members and provide coaching and mentoring

  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and service delivery


What We’re Looking For

We are looking for a technically strong and commercially aware tax professional who combines deep expertise in trusts and estates with excellent client relationship and team management skills.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

  • CTA and/or STEP qualified, or able to demonstrate equivalent experience

  • Strong experience in UK trusts and estates

  • Excellent technical understanding of private client tax, including anti-avoidance rules

  • Proven background in trust and IHT compliance

  • Experience handling HMRC enquiries and settlements

  • Strong advisory capability and technical writing skills

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, manage, and develop junior team members

  • Commercially minded with a strong client-focused approach
