About the Role
Transaction Tax Leadership Opportunity at Cooper Parry
If you know that exceptional tax advice is about far more than compliance, and more about influencing outcomes, guiding decisions, and adding value where it matters most, this could be your next move.
At Cooper Parry, this is an opportunity to play a central role in high-impact deals, working alongside investors, entrepreneurs, and management teams during pivotal moments in their growth journeys. You’ll take ownership of complex transaction tax projects, help shape a rapidly expanding team, and support the development of future talent in a business known for doing things differently.
The Opportunity
Joining Cooper Parry’s fast-growing Transaction Tax team, you’ll lead from the front on sophisticated deal activity while helping define what outstanding client delivery looks like in a modern advisory environment.
This role offers the chance to combine technical expertise, commercial thinking, leadership capability, and relationship-building skills in a highly visible position within the firm.
What You’ll Be Doing
In this role, you will take the lead across a broad range of transaction tax work, acting as a trusted adviser to clients and a key contributor to the team’s continued growth.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading multi-disciplinary deal teams on tax due diligence, structuring, and advisory assignments for both private equity and corporate clients
Providing commercially focused guidance during negotiations, offering clear and composed advice in high-pressure situations
Building and strengthening relationships with private equity houses, corporates, and management teams across the UK mid-market
Contributing to the strategic direction of the team, including proposition development, delivery approach, and market positioning
Coaching and mentoring managers and junior colleagues, helping to build confidence, technical capability, and a high-performance culture
Working closely with corporate finance and transaction services teams to deliver a seamless, joined-up experience for clients
What They’re Looking For
You’ll be someone who combines strong technical credentials with a sharp commercial mindset. You won’t just analyse the numbers, you’ll understand the wider business context and use that insight to influence outcomes.
You’ll also be energised by leadership, motivated by team development, and confident in building trusted relationships with senior stakeholders.
You’ll likely bring:
ACA, ACCA or CTA qualification, or equivalent professional experience
Strong experience leading the tax aspects of M&A transactions, ideally with exposure to private equity-backed deals
Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the confidence to advise and challenge senior decision-makers
A genuine passion for developing people and creating a culture built on trust, excellence, and collaboration
A desire to help drive transformation within a professional services environment
Curiosity, energy, and personality — because the best deals are rarely built by dull advisers
