BlackRock is seeking an experienced tax professional to join its global Private Markets Tax Team in London. This opportunity has arisen to replace a departing Vice President and offers the chance to play a key role in supporting one of the world’s most sophisticated private markets platforms.
This is a high-impact, in-house position focused on tax advisory, structuring, compliance, and transaction support across a broad range of private markets activities, with particular emphasis on private equity, secondaries, and hedge fund-of-funds solutions.

The Team
You will join BlackRock’s global Private Markets Tax Team, a specialist group of more than 30 professionals located across the US, UK, and Hong Kong. The team is co-led by two Managing Directors based in New York and works closely with the broader Product Tax function.
This role offers significant international exposure, with regular collaboration across regions including EMEA, the US, and Asia-Pacific.
The Opportunity
This position is designed for a tax professional who enjoys combining technical depth with commercial judgment. You will advise on fund and investment structuring, review tax-sensitive legal documentation, oversee compliance work, and support new product development across complex alternative investment strategies.
The role combines strategic advisory work with hands-on execution and will suit someone comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-visibility environment.
What You’ll Be Doing
Core responsibilities
Provide practical tax support to BlackRock’s private markets business teams
Advise on new product development, including:
fund structuring
product strategy
tax structuring
review of legal and commercial documentation
Support ongoing tax oversight for funds, fund complexes, and related investment vehicles
Advise on investment acquisitions, underlying structures, and transaction strategies
Review and negotiate tax aspects of transaction and fund documentation with legal and tax advisers
Conduct tax due diligence on selected investments and help mitigate identified tax risks
Design and assess investment holding structures, including understanding the broader impact of fund structuring decisions
Oversee external advisers, including Big 4 firms and law firms supporting transactions and reporting
Monitor domestic and international tax developments and assess their implications for funds and structures
Build scalable tax processes and procedures as the private markets platform continues to expand
Partner with the wider Product Tax team on issues affecting BlackRock’s broader product range
Documentation and stakeholder engagement
Review tax provisions in legal and fund documents
Communicate with investors and investment sponsors on tax-related requests and queries
Support client relations, sales, and marketing teams with client-facing tax communications, including interactions with prospective investors
Engage on tax-related provisions in LPAs, PPMs, side letters, and transactional agreements
Compliance oversight
Assist with oversight of EMEA tax reporting compliance, particularly work outsourced to external advisers
Support reporting requirements such as:
German CFC reporting
PFIC reporting
Swiss Transfer Tax reporting
and other relevant European tax compliance obligations
Reporting Line
The successful candidate will report directly to a Managing Director in New York. That Managing Director reports to the co-head of the Private Markets Tax Team, who in turn reports to BlackRock’s Global Head of Tax.
The role involves close collaboration with both the global Private Markets Tax Team and the wider Product Tax Team.
What BlackRock Is Looking For
Required experience
Experience gained in:
a law firm
a Big 4 accountancy firm
or in-house at a private markets asset manager
Strong understanding of the tax aspects of private funds and fund-of-funds
Experience across alternatives, particularly:
hedge funds
private equity
secondaries
Knowledge of fund and SPV structures used in alternative investments
Experience reviewing tax provisions in:
LPAs
PPMs
side letters
purchase and sale agreements
other relevant transactional documents
At least 5 years’ relevant experience
