The Opportunity
Jazz Pharmaceuticals is seeking an experienced and motivated European Indirect Tax Manager to join our Tax Department.
Reporting to the Executive Director of Tax, this role will take ownership of the company’s indirect tax compliance and reporting activities across multiple jurisdictions. The successful candidate will play a key part in ensuring compliance with local VAT/GST regulations, strengthening internal processes, and supporting the business through expert tax guidance.
This is an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented tax professional who combines strong technical knowledge with a passion for process improvement, risk management, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
As European Indirect Tax Manager, you will be responsible for a broad range of indirect tax activities, including:
Managing indirect tax compliance and reporting
Oversee VAT/GST compliance obligations across relevant jurisdictions
Ensure submissions are accurate, timely, and aligned with local regulations and internal policies
Supporting tax audits
Coordinate and assist with indirect tax audits
Help drive timely resolution of audit matters
Contribute to improving audit readiness and procedures
Monitoring regulatory developments
Track international legislative and regulatory changes
Assess the potential impact of VAT and indirect tax developments on the business
Driving process and systems improvement
Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency, controls, and accuracy
Support technology-enabled solutions and process improvement initiatives
Advising on commercial agreements
Review customer and supplier contracts from an indirect tax perspective
Provide practical guidance to stakeholders on VAT implications
Supporting and mentoring team members
Guide junior colleagues within the tax function
Promote best practices and continuous learning across the team
Delivering tax training and updates
Support internal training sessions on VAT developments, risks, and business impacts
Implementing compliance-related changes
Assist with system and process updates required to meet evolving tax obligations
Collaborating cross-functionally
Partner with internal business teams to identify tax impacts arising from operational activities
Communicate tax considerations clearly to non-tax stakeholders
Contributing to M&A activity
Support mergers and acquisitions, including post-acquisition tax integration work
What You’ll Bring
We are looking for a candidate with a strong blend of technical expertise, communication skills, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced international environment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
Strong technical understanding of VAT principles and indirect tax compliance
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines independently
A detail-oriented, proactive approach with strong ownership and accountability
Excellent written, verbal, analytical, and presentation skills
Ability to explain complex tax concepts clearly and effectively to a broad range of business stakeholders
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Experience with SAP and PwC’s ITX Edge is desirable
Previous experience in VAT or indirect tax, ideally within:
A multinational organisation, or
A tax advisory/accounting firm
People management or mentoring experience would be advantageous
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline — required
A professional qualification such as ACCA, CTA, or equivalent — preferred
