Wells Fargo is seeking an Assistant Vice President, Tax Analyst (EMEA) to join its London office, reporting directly to the Head of International Tax. About the Opportunity
In this position, you will play an important role in supporting Wells Fargo’s EMEA tax function across a wide range of international corporate tax matters. The role combines day-to-day tax compliance and reporting responsibilities with involvement in project-based work, technical analysis, and advisory support for the wider business.
You will work closely with colleagues across tax, finance, legal, treasury, compliance, and risk, while also interacting with management and external advisors. This position provides an exceptional platform for professional development within a highly diversified financial services organisation.
Key Responsibilities
As Assistant Vice President, Tax Analyst (EMEA), your responsibilities will include:
Supporting international corporate tax compliance, reporting, and advisory activities across the EMEA region.
Managing the compliance process for EMEA entities, including:
Preparing UK and Irish corporate tax computations and returns
Coordinating with Finance teams on iXBRL-formatted accounts
Filing tax returns directly or overseeing local agents across EMEA
Preparing accurate and timely tax disclosures for financial statements and management accounts for review by the EMEA Corporate Tax Lead.
Producing tax update materials and slide packs for board and management committee meetings when required.
Calculating and advising on tax accruals, tax payments, and UK group relief.
Responding to tax authority enquiries across EMEA in a timely and effective manner.
Reviewing tax legislation changes and assessing their impact on Wells Fargo’s EMEA entities.
Drafting tax memoranda and supporting technical analysis on key direct tax matters.
Contributing to strategic tax projects and restructuring initiatives.
Providing tax support for ad hoc business queries, including advice linked to new products and business initiatives.
Collaborating closely with Transfer Pricing and local functional teams, including:
Finance
Indirect Tax
Legal
Treasury
Compliance
Risk
Enhancing tax processes and driving efficiencies to strengthen tax compliance operations.
Supporting the maintenance of tax governance and controls frameworks from a corporate tax perspective.
Acting as a direct tax subject matter expert for key internal stakeholders.
What You Will Bring
The successful candidate will be a proactive and technically strong tax professional with experience in international corporate tax matters. You will be comfortable working independently, managing competing priorities, and communicating confidently with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
Required Experience
Experience in Corporate Tax, Finance, Accounting, Analytics, Reporting, or equivalent demonstrated through a combination of:
Work experience
Training
Education
Post-qualification experience, ideally within banking or financial services
Background in corporate tax gained in practice, in-house, or both
Technical Knowledge
Strong understanding of European tax issues within a multinational environment
Sound knowledge of:
Tax accounting
Financial statement tax disclosures
Corporate tax reporting
Familiarity with international tax concepts including:
Permanent establishments
Corporate residence
Transfer pricing
Tax treaties
Understanding of end-to-end corporate tax reporting and compliance processes
Business Skills
Ability to explain complex tax matters clearly and concisely to non-tax stakeholders and senior management
Experience in managing external advisors and engagements
Proven ability to build effective relationships across multiple business and support functions
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and judgement skills
Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a broader global tax team
