We are seeking ambitious and high-calibre professionals to join our Financial Services Operational Taxes team as an Assistant Manager. The Opportunity
In this role, you will play a key part in delivering high-quality operational tax services to a varied portfolio of financial services clients. You will work closely with clients, colleagues across the UK and globally, and internal technology and advisory teams to help deliver practical, innovative, and commercially relevant solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include a combination of technical, client-facing, and strategic work, including:
Building and maintaining strong technical knowledge across operational taxes and related areas
Supporting the management of client relationships and projects, becoming a trusted point of contact for operational tax matters
Developing a strong understanding of client businesses and identifying opportunities to deliver additional operational tax and related services
Contributing to innovative client solutions and advising on market-leading propositions
Supporting business development activity, including proposals and go-to-market initiatives
Collaborating with KPMG teams across the UK and internationally to deliver joined-up, high-quality support
Helping shape and develop new service offerings, including working alongside technology teams to create and implement new solutions
Supporting the design of scalable delivery models to ensure consistent and high-quality client outcomes
Acting as an ambassador for KPMG and the Operational Taxes team, helping drive the continued growth of the practice through excellent service delivery
Who We’re Looking For
We are interested in candidates who bring a combination of technical knowledge, sector understanding, and a strong desire to grow their career in a fast-moving area of tax.
You are likely to bring some or all of the following:
Strong technical expertise in tax or financial services, demonstrated through:
A qualification in tax, audit, finance, law, or regulation, and/or
Significant relevant practical experience
Hands-on experience with operational taxes in a financial services environment, whether gained in:
Industry, or
Professional services
A good understanding of financial markets, products, participants, and investors, such as:
Banks
Brokers
Institutional investors
Custodians
Asset managers
Private equity firms
Knowledge of at least one of the following areas:
Withholding Tax
Transaction Tax
Information Reporting including FATCA and CRS/AEOI
Qualified Intermediary
International Tax principles
Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage delivery, delegate effectively, and coach others
Excellent client-facing communication skills
An interest in emerging technology, and the ability to apply this alongside changing tax regulations
Commercial awareness, with the ability to identify new developments and turn them into valuable client propositions
Energy, curiosity, resilience, and a commitment to ongoing learning
