The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Assistant Manager to join our Corporate Tax Advisory team in Bristol.
This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a supportive, forward-thinking, and close-knit team with a strong compliance focus. Based in our city-centre Bristol office, you will join a team that is growing, evolving, and offering excellent opportunities for career progression.
You will work with a broad portfolio of business clients, delivering both tax advisory and compliance services while playing an important role in client relationships, team development, and service excellence.
What You’ll Be Doing
As an Assistant Manager, you will take on a varied and rewarding role with responsibilities including:
Managing client relationships and building strong connections with key stakeholders
Overseeing a portfolio of complex corporate tax cases across both advisory and compliance work
Providing high-quality tax advice on technically challenging matters
Leading compliance activity, ensuring procedures are followed in line with relevant institute standards and HMRC guidance
Supporting, mentoring, and developing junior team members
Conducting performance appraisals and contributing to staff development
Helping drive team success through collaboration, organisation, and strong service delivery
Building commercial awareness and developing your business development capabilities
What We’re Looking For
To succeed in this role, you will bring a strong combination of technical expertise, people management skills, and client focus.
Essential Experience
Substantial corporate tax experience gained within professional services, industry, or both
Proven ability to advise clients on complex corporate tax matters
Experience in managing and coaching others
A genuine interest in developing business development skills
Strong IT capability and confidence using relevant systems and tools
Technical Profile
A technically strong tax adviser able to contribute to complex and high-value client work
Comfortable balancing both advisory and compliance responsibilities
Able to manage competing priorities while maintaining excellent standards
Qualifications
You should hold one or more of the following professional qualifications:
ACA
ACCA
CA
CTA
Or an international equivalent
