We are now looking for an experienced US Tax Manager to join our specialist US/UK tax team in our Mayfair office. This is an exciting opportunity to take on a varied and client-facing role, working with a broad portfolio of businesses across multiple sectors while contributing to the continued growth of a highly regarded specialist service line.

The Opportunity

As a US Tax Manager, you will provide a combination of US corporate tax advisory and compliance services to a dynamic portfolio that includes:

  • Entrepreneurs

  • Start-ups

  • Scale-ups

  • Mid-cap companies

You will work closely with a wide variety of clients across a broad range of industries, delivering high-quality technical support while also helping strengthen and expand this specialist area of the firm.


What You’ll Be Doing

US Tax Compliance

You will take ownership of a varied compliance workload and ensure timely, accurate delivery for your portfolio.

  • Oversee the preparation and completion of:

  • Forms 1065

  • 1120

  • 1120-S

  • 1120-F

  • 5471

  • 5472

  • 8858

  • 8865

  • 926

Portfolio & Financial Management

You will be responsible for the smooth financial management of your client portfolio, ensuring work remains commercially effective and aligned with budget expectations.

  • Manage WIP effectively

  • Monitor and achieve billing targets

  • Support cash collection

  • Keep the Director informed of progress and any risks to budget or deadlines

Client Relationship & Business Development

This role goes beyond technical delivery. You will also play a visible role in developing client relationships and supporting new business activity.

  • Participate in identifying and pursuing new client opportunities

  • Prepare for and attend prospective client meetings

  • Draft follow-up correspondence

  • Support marketing initiatives, events, and wider business development activity

  • Build a strong internal and external professional profile

Workflow Management

You will help ensure work is delivered efficiently, transparently, and to a consistently high standard.

  • Regularly document and communicate workflow status to the team

  • Ensure assignments are completed within agreed budgets

  • Escalate issues or delays promptly to the Director

Administration & Operational Standards

Strong organisation and operational discipline are key to success in this role.

  • Complete and submit timesheets weekly

  • Keep WIP levels within agreed parameters

  • Flag any expected overruns to the Director

  • Maintain productivity levels that meet or exceed expectations

  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and professional standards

Team Development

You will have the opportunity to support and develop junior team members, helping strengthen capability across the wider team.

  • Supervise and mentor junior staff

  • Support the annual appraisal process

  • Assist junior colleagues in developing their understanding of:

  • Relevant software packages

  • US tax legislation

  • Statutory requirements

  • Contribute to a high-performance culture built on excellence and client service


What We’re Looking For

We are seeking someone who combines strong technical knowledge with the ability to communicate clearly and build trust with clients and colleagues alike.

You will likely be someone who is:

  • Technically capable, but able to explain complex matters without unnecessary jargon

  • Proactive and organised, with a strong sense of ownership

  • Confident managing priorities, deadlines, and a varied workload

  • Clear and professional in communication, both written and verbal

  • Collaborative in approach, with a willingness to share knowledge and support others

  • Trusted with sensitive information, maintaining complete confidentiality at all times


Your Skills & Experience

To succeed in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

  • EA qualified, CPA, or equivalent

  • At least 5 years’ experience in US corporate and/or partnership tax compliance

  • Strong understanding of US tax rules relating to:

  • Controlled Foreign Companies (CFCs)

  • Passive Foreign Investment Companies (PFICs)

  • FIRPTA

  • Partnership taxation

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with:

  • Clients

  • Colleagues

  • Senior management

  • Advanced computer skills and solid knowledge of relevant software

  • Excellent organisational skills and a high level of attention to detail

  • The ability to work with a prestigious client base requiring absolute discretion

Knowledge of trusts would be advantageous, but is not essential.
