The Opportunity

We are looking for an Associate Director to join our Corporate Tax team in Nottingham, Cambridge, or Leicester.

This is a fantastic opportunity to take on a senior role within a high-performing national tax team, working with an impressive and diverse portfolio of clients. You will support businesses ranging from owner-managed companies and entrepreneurial mid-market organisations to large multinational groups, helping them navigate both compliance requirements and complex advisory matters.

You’ll play a central role in delivering exceptional service, leading on technical matters, and identifying opportunities to deepen client relationships and grow the wider business.

About the Corporate Tax Team

Our national corporate tax service line supports clients across a wide variety of sectors and business structures. We manage tax compliance obligations while also acting as trusted advisers on more strategic matters.

Our work includes:

  • Corporate tax compliance

  • Tax planning and advisory support

  • Due diligence

  • Transactions

  • Business restructuring

  • Innovation reliefs

  • Complex technical tax matters

This breadth of work means you’ll enjoy a varied and stimulating role with plenty of scope to develop your expertise and influence.

What You’ll Be Doing

As an Associate Director, you will take ownership of a varied client portfolio, including clients with more complex tax affairs. You’ll combine technical excellence with strong relationship management, ensuring clients receive proactive, high-quality advice.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing a portfolio of corporate tax clients and acting as a key point of contact

  • Delivering complex compliance work to a high standard

  • Reviewing tax computations and work prepared by junior team members

  • Advising clients on a range of technical corporate tax issues

  • Supporting and contributing to advisory projects across areas such as transactions and restructuring

  • Working closely with partners and directors across service lines to deliver joined-up client solutions

  • Identifying opportunities for further work and helping to grow existing client relationships

  • Contributing to proposals, networking, and business development activity in the local market

  • Supporting and developing junior colleagues within the team

How You’ll Make an Impact

In this role, you’ll be a visible and influential part of the tax team, helping clients solve problems, seize opportunities, and stay ahead in a changing environment.

You’ll make an impact by:

  • Being part of a high-performing tax team supporting dynamic, fast-growing, and entrepreneurial businesses

  • Taking ownership of client relationships and delivering a consistently excellent service

  • Providing practical, value-adding advice tailored to each client’s commercial objectives

  • Collaborating with partners and directors across multiple service lines

  • Supporting regional business development efforts and helping bring RSM’s expertise to market

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who enjoys variety, thrives in a client-facing environment, and is motivated by continuous learning and improvement.

You’ll likely be someone who:

  • Enjoys solving problems and improving the way things are done

  • Builds strong relationships naturally

  • Brings a proactive and commercial mindset

  • Is confident managing both technical work and client expectations

  • Wants to make a meaningful contribution to a growing and ambitious firm

Skills and experience required:

  • ACA qualified (or equivalent)

  • CTA qualified preferred, or able to demonstrate strong tax advisory experience

  • Proven experience in a client-facing or customer-facing role

  • Strong background in corporate tax compliance, including preparing and reviewing tax computations

  • Comprehensive technical corporate tax knowledge

  • Demonstrable experience in tax advisory work across technical matters

  • Strong experience in managing clients and handling a busy portfolio

  • Interest and experience in business development, with the ability to convert relationships into fee-paying work

  • Significant experience operating at Manager level or in a similar role, or clear evidence of the capability required to step into an Associate Director position
