The Opportunity
We are looking for an Associate Director to join our expanding Funds Tax team. This is an exciting opportunity to step into a senior role within a high-growth specialist practice that works with a diverse range of investment funds, fund managers, and related structures across private equity, venture capital, and other alternative asset classes.
Our team advises clients throughout the full fund lifecycle, supporting them with both complex tax reporting and strategic advisory matters. In many cases, we act as a trusted long-term adviser, providing joined-up expertise across fund structures, management groups, and key individuals.
About the Team
The Funds Tax team at RSM UK is known for its breadth of technical expertise and highly collaborative approach. We often act as a “house adviser” to our clients, overseeing tax matters across the entire structure, including:
Partnership tax at fund level
Corporation tax within group structures
Personal tax matters for executives and carry holders
This broad remit means we work closely with specialists across the firm, including:
Corporate Tax
Private Client Services
International Tax
VAT
Transfer Pricing
Transaction Services
Audit
Consulting

Your Role as Associate Director
In this position, you will take ownership of a portfolio of investment manager structures, ensuring outstanding service delivery while strengthening client relationships and leading high-performing teams. You will play a pivotal role in both the commercial and technical success of the portfolio, while also identifying opportunities to broaden and deepen client engagement.
You will be expected to combine technical excellence with commercial awareness, delivering a first-class client experience while contributing to the continued growth of the Funds Tax practice.
How You Will Make an Impact
- Develop and strengthen client relationships by demonstrating a deep understanding of their commercial environment and strategic goals.
- Lead complex advisory and technical projects, including fund formation, restructuring, and planning for key lifecycle events.
- Partner with senior stakeholders to generate new business opportunities and build on existing client relationships.
- Manage service delivery across your portfolio, ensuring high-quality outcomes, strong commercial oversight, and excellent client care.
- Support and mentor junior team members, helping to develop technical capability, confidence, and career progression.
- Work collaboratively across departments to identify wider client needs and deliver joined-up solutions.
- Provide leadership on assignments by briefing junior staff, supervising workflows, reviewing outputs, and offering practical on-the-job coaching.
What We’re Looking For

Ideal Experience and Skills
CTA and/or ACA qualified, or qualified through relevant experience
Strong technical knowledge of tax issues affecting fund clients
Proven experience in client relationship management and project delivery
Ability to lead advisory projects and produce high-quality reports on time and within budget
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Experience managing a portfolio of fund tax reporting and advisory work
Confidence building relationships with both internal stakeholders and external clients
A genuine interest in coaching, mentoring, and developing junior colleagues
