The Opportunity
We are looking for a talented and qualified professional to join our Human Capital Advisory team as a Share Schemes Assistant Tax Manager.
In this role, you will support UK and international businesses with the implementation and ongoing management of a wide range of share schemes, including both tax-advantaged and non-tax-advantaged arrangements.
This is a role that goes far beyond technical compliance. You will work closely with clients, help them navigate complex tax and commercial issues, and provide practical advice that delivers real business value.
Key Responsibilities
As a Share Schemes Assistant Tax Manager, your responsibilities will include:
Advising clients on the tax, commercial, and practical considerations involved in implementing share schemes
Supporting the delivery of tax-favoured plans such as EMI and CSOP, as well as non-tax-favoured plans including:
Growth Shares
Part Paid Share Plans
LTIPs
Providing specialist tax input on due diligence projects and corporate transactions
Assisting with share valuations and liaising with the corporate finance valuations team
Supporting clients with the ongoing operation and compliance of share schemes
Managing the registration and de-registration of share plans with HMRC
Preparing annual share scheme returns, obtaining client approval, and submitting them to HMRC
Attending and, where appropriate, leading client meetings
Identifying opportunities to deliver additional advisory services to existing clients
Helping generate new leads and contributing to winning new work
Responding to technical tax queries from colleagues across the firm, including Partners and Directors
Corresponding directly with clients and HMRC
Assisting with billing and fee management processes
Planning, controlling, and reviewing work completed by junior team members to ensure delivery within deadlines and budgets
Supporting staff appraisals for allocated team members
Delegating and reviewing tasks effectively while ensuring junior staff receive the right level of training and development
About You
We’re looking for someone who combines strong technical expertise with commercial awareness, client focus, and a collaborative approach.
To succeed in this role, you will ideally have:
A professional qualification such as CTA, ACA, or ACCA, or equivalent relevant experience
Proven experience in the implementation of share schemes, including both tax-favoured and non-tax-favoured plans
Strong knowledge of Employment Related Securities legislation and its impact on transactions
Experience preparing and submitting annual share scheme returns
Familiarity with HMRC registration and de-registration processes for share schemes
A strong background in client service, including fee proposals and billing
The ability to coach, support, and develop junior team members
Confidence in building relationships and contributing to business development opportunities
