Tax Associate

IG Group

Join IG Group, a publicly listed FTSE 250 FinTech leader shaping the future of trading through innovative mobile, web, and desktop platforms.

Our technology empowers more than 340,000 clients worldwide to trade stocks and shares, leveraged products, Futures & Options, and Crypto. With offices in 18 countries and products available across 16 regions, we are growing fast, thinking boldly, and building better experiences for customers around the globe.

We are looking for a Tax Associate to join our team in a role that offers broad exposure, real responsibility, and the chance to develop within a high-performing global tax function.

About IG Group

At IG Group, we are driven by ambition, innovation, and a commitment to delivering exceptional products for our customers. We work in cross-functional teams, give our people meaningful autonomy, and encourage fresh thinking that helps us move faster and achieve more.

Our focus is clear: to grow sustainably by increasing the number of active clients we serve while continuously improving how we operate.

About the Tax Team

IG’s Tax function is headquartered in London and reports directly to the CFO. The team includes the Group Head of Tax and five tax professionals working across four specialist areas:

- **Corporate Tax** - **Indirect Tax** - **Operational Tax** - **Employment Tax**

This position will work most closely with the Indirect Tax Senior Manager and Operational Tax Senior Manager, offering the opportunity to contribute across a wide variety of tax matters in a global business environment.

Why This Role Stands Out

This is an outstanding opportunity for someone who wants to build a broad in-house tax career within an international, fast-evolving business.

As global tax requirements continue to increase in complexity, IG is focused on becoming more agile, efficient, and scalable. In this role, you will play an important part in supporting that journey while gaining exposure to multiple tax disciplines, working with stakeholders across the business, and deepening your understanding of both tax and the products we offer.

For the right candidate, this role can also open the door to future involvement in global corporate tax and employment tax.

Key Responsibilities

As Tax Associate, you will contribute to a wide range of compliance, advisory, and process improvement activities, including:

Indirect Tax Support

  • Assist the Indirect Tax Senior Manager in supporting IG entities in the UK and internationally with their indirect tax compliance obligations
  • Support the preparation of UK VAT returns for the group
  • Help finance teams with the accounting treatment of indirect taxes, including provisioning and budgeting

Operational Tax Activities

  • Support the Operational Tax Senior Manager with tax filings across multiple jurisdictions, including:
  • FATCA / CRS / CARF
  • US withholding tax filings

Business Partnership & Advisory

  • Act as a point of contact for Finance teams and the wider business on VAT and operational tax matters
  • Provide support on tax considerations linked to new product launches
  • Build effective relationships across the organisation to ensure tax requirements are understood and addressed

Process Improvement & Governance

  • Help improve and adapt tax processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance
  • Support the preparation and maintenance of transfer pricing documentation and policies
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments, assessing both opportunities and risks for the Group

What We’re Looking For

This is a broad role, so we do not expect candidates to have experience across every tax discipline mentioned. What matters most is a strong foundation, curiosity, and the ability to grow.

Skills & Experience

  • A tax or accounting qualification such as ACA or CTA
  • At least 3 years of experience in:
    • a professional services firm, or
    • an in-house tax role
  • Strong analytical skills with a natural tendency to question, investigate, and challenge information where needed
  • A confident communication style and a collaborative approach to working with stakeholders across the business
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Experience with data analytics tools such as Power BI would be an advantage
  • Strong data management capability and excellent attention to detail

Personal Attributes

  • Ambitious and motivated to keep learning
  • Adaptable and comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-changing environment
  • Proactive, thoughtful, and able to take ownership of your work
  • Interested in developing broad commercial and technical tax knowledge
