About the Team

Our Tax Dispute Resolution (TDR) team brings together deep technical expertise and practical insight, including professionals with former senior HMRC investigator experience. This gives us a unique perspective across a wide range of HMRC departments and enquiry processes.

We work closely with clients throughout every stage of an HMRC investigation, helping them understand the likely focus of HMRC’s questions, assess the risks being explored, and navigate the process with clarity. Our aim is always to guide matters towards the best possible conclusion efficiently and effectively.

The Opportunity

This role offers the chance to work alongside highly experienced HMRC dispute resolution specialists on a varied and technically interesting portfolio of matters. You will play an important role in supporting investigations, disclosures, and complex tax disputes, while gaining valuable exposure to both clients and senior stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

As part of the role, you will:

• Support and manage HMRC investigations across areas such as:

• COP 9

• COP 8

• Cross Tax enquiries

• Technical tax disputes

• Collaborate with Partners, Directors, and the wider tax team to ensure enquiries and disclosures progress smoothly and effectively.

• Take a proactive role in preparing disclosure reports, including the computational elements required for submission to HMRC.

• Work directly with senior colleagues on complex client matters and technical casework.

• Communicate directly with clients, professional contacts, and other stakeholders to keep work moving in line with agreed deadlines.

• Attend meetings with HMRC, either in person or virtually, as part of the enquiry or disclosure process.

What We’re Looking For

We are seeking a candidate who combines technical tax knowledge with strong communication and organisational skills. The ideal applicant will be comfortable working in a fast-paced, professional environment and keen to build expertise in HMRC dispute resolution.

Preferred Skills & Experience

• ATT / CTA qualified, or HMRC / overseas equivalent

• Alternatively, relevant practical experience in a similar area

• Experience in:

• Tax enquiries

• HMRC investigations

• Voluntary disclosures

• Report writing experience

• Tax computation experience

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly:

• Word

• Excel
