About the Role

Tax Technology Assistant Manager

RSM UK | London

Shape the future of tax through technology at one of the world’s leading professional services networks.

At RSM UK, we are part of a globally recognised network of audit, tax, and consulting firms known for delivering bold thinking and exceptional service to middle-market businesses. As a firm with ambitious growth plans and a clear vision to become the premium adviser to the middle market worldwide, everything we do is focused on helping clients and colleagues thrive.

If you are looking for a career where you can grow, innovate, and make a meaningful contribution, this is an opportunity to do exactly that.

The Opportunity

Join our Tax Digital Services team — a fast-moving, innovative, and highly visible part of the business that is helping drive digital transformation across tax at both a national and global level.

This client-facing team creates and delivers bespoke tax technology solutions, combining consulting expertise, software-as-a-service offerings, and co-sourcing capabilities. As a Tax Technology Assistant Manager, you will play an important role in building and deploying technology-enabled solutions that improve tax processes, automate workflows, and solve complex client challenges.

Based in our London office, you will work closely with specialists in data analytics, data visualisation, and innovation to deliver high-quality, scalable, and technically robust outcomes for clients and internal stakeholders alike.

What You’ll Be Doing

In this role, you will contribute to both the enhancement of existing solutions and the creation of new technology-led offerings that support tax functions in a rapidly evolving landscape.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering end-to-end tax technology and automation projects

  • Designing and improving robust, scalable tax processes

  • Building automations and supporting solution development

  • Collaborating with analytics, visualisation, and innovation specialists

  • Researching emerging technologies and assessing practical use cases

  • Testing new tools and identifying opportunities to better meet client needs

  • Supporting the commercial rollout of technology-enhanced solutions across tax service lines

  • Training, mentoring, and upskilling junior team members

  • Contributing to proposals, RFP responses, and client demonstrations

How You’ll Make an Impact

This is a role where your contribution will be seen and valued. You will help shape the direction of tax technology services while delivering practical solutions that improve the client experience.

You will make an impact by:

  • Leading or contributing to complex technology-enabled tax projects

  • Using tools such as Alteryx and Power BI to support solution delivery

  • Working closely with the Tax Technology leadership team

  • Helping develop and expand RSM’s global tax technology offering

  • Supporting client bids, proposals, and RFP activity

  • Growing your own technical capability through continuous development

  • Communicating the value and benefit of technology solutions to stakeholders

  • Sharing knowledge and developing more junior colleagues

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who enjoys variety, embraces continuous learning, and is energised by solving problems in smarter ways.

You may be a strong fit for this role if you are naturally curious, commercially aware, and motivated by opportunities to improve the way things work. We value individuals who can combine technical understanding with a collaborative, people-focused approach.

Our ideal candidate will bring:

  • A background in corporate tax or direct tax compliance

  • Experience delivering tax or tax technology advisory work

  • A proactive, entrepreneurial approach

  • A practical and responsible interest in using AI within your work

  • The ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders effectively

  • A hands-on mindset, with good judgement on when to delegate

  • Strong IT capability and an understanding of tax data flows

  • Confidence learning new systems and technologies quickly

  • Awareness of the wider tax technology landscape and emerging trends

  • Experience delivering demonstrations and presenting solutions

  • The ability to work effectively across multiple locations and teams

  • Openness to diverse perspectives and new ideas

Essential Requirements

To succeed in this role, you should be able to demonstrate experience in the following areas:

  • Strong client-facing skills and a track record of meeting client needs

  • Knowledge of tax compliance processes and how they interact with financial reporting or ERP data

  • Familiarity with data analytics tools and related processes

  • Hands-on experience with Alteryx

  • Understanding of data acquisition methods such as SFTP and API

  • Experience using Power BI or similar data visualisation tools

  • Awareness of AI technologies and willingness to develop further in this area

  • Proficiency with business technologies including Microsoft 365, Power Platform, and Fabric

Desirable Experience

While not essential, the following would be advantageous:

  • ATT or equivalent technical qualification

  • DITT or another relevant tax technology qualification

  • Alteryx Designer Core certification or above

  • Understanding of technology support models and risk frameworks

  • Experience with relational database design and best practice

  • Familiarity with Agile delivery methods

  • Experience using Microsoft Azure DevOps

  • Knowledge of classical machine learning algorithms

  • A background in data analytics or data science

  • Exposure to developing technologies such as AI, ML, or RPA
