Join Liberty Global in a pivotal leadership role where tax strategy and corporate transactions intersect. As VP, Tax – M&A, you will take ownership of the tax agenda across a broad range of strategic activity, from acquisitions and disposals to joint ventures, minority investments, restructurings, and wider corporate development initiatives.
This is a highly visible role that combines hands-on transaction execution with strategic leadership of the central tax function. You will work closely with senior stakeholders across multiple jurisdictions, including Bermuda, the UK, and Liberty Global’s wider international portfolio, helping to deliver commercially sound, compliant, and tax-efficient outcomes.
The Opportunity
This position offers the chance to shape the tax direction of complex, cross-border transactions within a fast-moving global business. You will play a central role in influencing deal strategy, managing tax risk, and designing structures that support long-term value creation.
You will also lead on broader tax governance, transfer pricing, and team development, ensuring Liberty Global remains agile and well-positioned in an evolving international tax landscape.
Key Responsibilities
Transaction & M&A Tax Leadership
You will drive the tax workstream across a diverse range of transaction types, ensuring optimal structuring and strong execution throughout the deal lifecycle.
Lead the tax aspects of cross-border transactions, including:
acquisitions
disposals
carve-outs
internal reorganisations
joint venture formations
integration planning
post-deal optimisation
Design and implement tax-efficient deal structures covering:
financing flows
holding company arrangements
IP migration
operating model readiness
Oversee tax due diligence, identifying:
tax risks
exposures
planning opportunities
value-creation levers
Partner closely with Corporate Development, Legal, Treasury, and Finance to shape deal strategy from initial evaluation through to signing and completion
Assess tax implications linked to:
equity investments
venture activity
portfolio monetisation strategies
Group Tax Strategy & Risk Management
You will help define and lead tax strategy at group level, balancing business ambition with robust governance and risk control.
Manage Liberty Global Ltd’s consolidated Bermuda and UK tax profiles
Advise on key international tax matters, including:
CFC rules
Pillar 2
BEPS
cross-border capital movements
Identify emerging tax risks arising from transactions or structural changes and recommend mitigation strategies to senior leadership
Develop and execute group-wide tax planning initiatives that improve after-tax returns and enhance long-term enterprise value
Compliance, Controls & Reporting
You will ensure tax compliance remains rigorous, transparent, and aligned with best practice across the organisation.
Maintain robust governance across all relevant tax compliance activities in partnership with Blume and external advisers
Review and approve:
quarterly tax provisions
tax returns
Long-Range Plan tax modules
Build and sustain effective, transparent relationships with tax authorities across relevant jurisdictions
Transfer Pricing
You will provide strategic oversight of transfer pricing to support the organisation’s cross-border business model and transaction activity.
Develop and manage transfer pricing strategies aligned to:
intercompany financing
cross-border transaction flows
intangible arrangements
post-deal integration
Oversee transfer pricing documentation, audits, and dispute resolution processes
Leadership & Team Development
This role requires an inspiring and commercially minded leader who can strengthen capability, promote excellence, and optimise external support.
Lead a high-performing central tax strategy team
Foster a culture of:

Build internal expertise in transaction structuring and emerging tax developments
Manage and optimise spend across external tax advisers
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for a senior tax leader with deep technical strength, strong commercial instincts, and a proven track record in complex international transactions.
Extensive international corporate tax expertise, ideally gained in a transaction-intensive environment such as:
Big 4
major law firm
multinational corporate
Demonstrated experience leading tax structuring on complex multi-jurisdiction transactions
Strong technical knowledge of:
Pillar 2
BEPS
CFC rules
financing structures
cross-border reorganisations
A strong record of delivering tax-efficient M&A outcomes under tight timelines and in high-pressure settings
Commercial credibility and the ability to influence senior stakeholders early in the deal process
Experience leading high-performing teams within tax, finance, or transaction-focused environments
Curiosity, entrepreneurial thinking, and confidence in navigating ambiguity and change
