The Opportunity

We are looking for an Employment and Expat Tax Manager to join the Group Tax team, reporting directly to the Director of Tax.

This position is ideal for a tax professional with deep expertise in global mobility tax and a strong grounding in UK employment tax. What You’ll Be Responsible For

Global Mobility & Expat Tax Compliance

In this area, you will help shape and maintain strong processes that support international tax compliance for mobile employees.

  • Partner with the Global Mobility team to build and maintain effective controls for managing tax and social security obligations across multiple jurisdictions

  • Oversee expat payroll and external tax vendors, ensuring compliance, operational efficiency and cost control

  • Support home and host country compliance for internationally mobile employees, including:

  • Long-term incentive plans (LTIPs)

  • Bonuses

  • Termination payments

  • Pension contributions

  • Ensure pension arrangements are structured effectively to maximise tax efficiency in host locations

  • Advise on business traveller tax risks and help implement tracking processes where required

  • Support tax protection policies for mobile employees

  • Collaborate with Finance on the accounting treatment of complex expat payroll matters

  • Respond to evolving global employment tax challenges and other ad hoc mobility issues

UK Employment Tax

You will also take ownership of key UK employment tax responsibilities, ensuring robust compliance and proactive risk management.

  • Manage UK employment tax reporting obligations, including:

  • PSA

  • Appendices 4, 7B and 8

  • Section 690

  • P11Ds

  • Oversee employment tax matters linked to employee benefits, such as:

  • Pensions

  • Salary sacrifice arrangements

  • Incentive schemes

  • Act as the main point of contact for HMRC on employment tax issues

  • Support Senior Accounting Officer certification through risk identification and assurance activity

  • Lead IR35 assessments and compliance

  • Advise on the tax implications of remote and flexible working arrangements

  • Work with Finance to ensure the accurate accounting and reporting of employment tax-related costs

  • Provide employment tax input into M&A due diligence

  • Identify tax efficiency opportunities and deliver training to internal stakeholders

  • Support overseas teams on employment tax matters when needed

  • Line manage and develop a Tax Analyst

What We’re Looking For

Essential Experience & Skills

We’re seeking someone who combines technical expertise with sound judgment, strong communication skills and a practical mindset.

  • 3–5 years’ experience in expat/global mobility tax compliance

  • Experience with tax equalisation and hypothetical tax calculations

  • Strong understanding of UK employment tax compliance requirements

  • Experience managing cross-border tax obligations from both home and host country perspectives

  • Good knowledge of accounting principles, including general ledger processes

  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills

  • Ability to work through ambiguity, balance competing priorities and deliver under pressure

  • A proactive, solutions-oriented and practical approach

Desirable

  • Understanding of international employment tax frameworks

  • A professional tax qualification such as CTA, ATT or equivalent
