£93,000 per annum**, depending on relevant skills, knowledge, and experience
The salary range for this role is informed by both internal benchmarking and external market insight.

About the Role
This opportunity sits within Group Tax and reports directly to the Group Tax Director. The successful candidate will provide employment tax leadership across the BBC, offering both strategic oversight and practical guidance in a highly varied and intellectually engaging environment.
You will partner with teams across the organisation, supporting innovative broadcasting, international operations, and complex commercial activity. This role offers the chance to work on challenging and meaningful projects while contributing to the BBC’s financial integrity and public mission.

What You’ll Be Responsible For
As the Employment Tax Business Partner, you will take ownership of a wide-ranging portfolio of responsibilities, including:
Leading strategic oversight and technical review of tax returns and statutory filings to ensure compliance with UK tax regulations
Providing expert employment tax advice to the BBC’s UK and overseas businesses
Improving and automating tax processes, supporting stronger compliance, controls, and efficiency
Supporting regulatory and financial reporting requirements, including:
Senior Accounting Officer obligations
Internal financial reporting controls
Representing the BBC Group externally in employment tax matters with:
HMRC
Overseas tax authorities
External and internal auditors
Professional advisers and lawyers
Freelancers and suppliers
Delivering proactive and commercially pragmatic tax input on:
New initiatives
Business expansion
Strategic plans
ERP system upgrades
Transactions
Establishing offices in new territories
Partnering with and influencing senior management, providing objective advice, challenge, and insight that drives business performance
Managing and supporting a team member, promoting:
Accountability
Engagement
Motivation
Wellbeing
Alignment with team and organisational objectives
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking a tax professional with substantial in-house employment tax expertise and the ability to operate effectively in a large, complex organisation.
Essential Skills & Experience
Significant employment tax experience
Proven experience providing employment tax advice within a complex organisation
In-house experience is essential
A professional accounting and/or tax qualification, such as:
ACA
ATT
CTA
or equivalent
Strong experience managing tax compliance, reporting, and planning for multinational businesses
Excellent analytical capability, with the ability to interpret complex tax regulations and apply them in line with both the letter and the spirit of UK tax law
Demonstrated expertise in tax technology systems and supporting enhancement or transformation projects
Strong understanding of the processes and controls required to manage tax effectively in a global organisation
Experience in:
Tax controversy
Tax compliance software
Financial reporting systems
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
